Module Overview

The Reporting & Insights module aggregates data from all KitchenLens modules to provide real-time dashboards, trend analysis, and exportable financial reports. It offers three distinct views optimized for different stakeholdersβ€”from quick daily snapshots to comprehensive custom reports.

User Actions:

  1. Open "Insights" - Home panel shows Key Metrics
  2. Toggle between "Today / Week / Month" views

System Actions:

  • Aggregates data from all modules
  • Computes COGS = Total Cost - Waste Value
  • Calculates GP % = (Sales - COGS) Γ· Sales Γ— 100
  • Displays current period metrics

User Actions:

  1. Tap metric card β†’ filtered report (e.g., Low GP Dishes)
  2. Use filters: Venue / Supplier / Category / Date Range
  3. Click dish to open Recipe Cost Breakdown

System Actions:

  • Sorts by impact (highest variance first)

System Logic & Calculations

Example: Sales $10,000, COGS $2,850
GP% = ($10,000 βˆ’ $2,850) Γ· $10,000 Γ— 100 = 71.5%

COGS = Total Ingredient Cost βˆ’ Waste Value

Example: Ingredients $3,000, Waste $150
COGS = $3,000 βˆ’ $150 = $2,850 (28.5% of sales)
